Gene
Rantz worked in graphic art as an illustrator and art director
from 1957 until 1985 when he began a career in fine art. His
work is reminiscent of the early impressionists: colorful,
atmospheric and most inviting.
A half century of study, experience, and the love of his craft
are evident in each brush stroke. His appreciation and familiarity
with Northern Michigan manifests in magical representation
on canvas or paper the splendors of the nature around us...wind
swept dunes, white sails on sparkling bluegreen lakes, birches
against a background of majestic white pines: all irresistible
subjects for his brush.
