| Becky
Thatcher finds inspiration for her jewelry designs in the
beauty of the remote location of her studio on the edge of
Sleeping Bear Dunes overlooking Lake Michigan. She paints
these land and seascapes with a palette of unusual colored
gemstones: boulder opal, chrysoprase, chrysocolla, tanzanite,
sapphire, topaz and many more set in gold, platinum and silver.
Becky and her family gather Petoskey stones
from the beaches for carving into bear, turtle, and frog figures,
as well as for beads and cabochons for her jewelry. Her beaded
necklaces capture the lore and imagery of the water, the beaches,
the sky, and the many forms of wildlife.
Her work is available through her Becky
Thatcher Designs shops in Glen Arbor and Leland, Michigan
as well as Key West, Florida. Her jewelry is on display in
many art museum shops and fine art galleries: Muskegon Art
Museum, Toledo Museum of Art, Leland Historical Museum, Topaz
Gallery in Atlanta, Georgia, Linda Richmond Gallery in Milwaukee,
Wisconsin, The Jewel in Bend, Oregon, QUARTERS Q2 in Harbor
Springs, Michigan and The Painted Bird in Suttons Bay, Michigan.
